Family Mediation

Family disputes involve important legal, financial, and personal considerations. Effective mediation gives parties and counsel an opportunity to address those considerations in a structured, respectful, and confidential setting.

As a former Florida Circuit Court Judge, Cheryl Caracuzzo presided over a broad range of family law matters. Her judicial experience allows her to understand the legal issues, courtroom realities, and practical challenges that frequently affect the resolution of family disputes.

Family Matters Mediated

Cheryl is available to mediate family law matters involving:

  • Divorce and dissolution of marriage

  • Equitable distribution of assets and liabilities

  • Alimony

  • Child support

  • Parenting plans and time-sharing

  • Paternity

  • Relocation

  • Related family law disputes

A Practical and Impartial Approach

As a mediator, Cheryl does not decide the case or advocate for either party. She provides a fair and impartial process in which the parties and their attorneys can identify disputed issues, evaluate possible resolutions, and work toward an informed agreement.

Her experience as both a trial lawyer and circuit court judge helps her recognize the legal, financial, and practical considerations that may influence each party’s decisions. Her goal is to keep discussions focused, productive, and respectful while allowing the parties to determine whether an acceptable resolution can be reached.

Preparing for Family Mediation

Before mediation, counsel and parties should be prepared to address:

  • The issues that have been resolved and those that remain disputed

  • Relevant financial information

  • Assets, liabilities, income, and expenses

  • Support calculations and supporting documentation

  • Parenting and time-sharing proposals, when applicable

  • Any deadlines, hearings, or trial dates affecting the matter

  • The individuals whose participation or approval may be needed to reach an agreement

Specific instructions for submitting mediation materials will be provided after scheduling and completion of the conflict-review process.
